Well, not actually today, but got it back on the road this weekend. The winter has been a bit brutal in the mid-west and the salting started in early November and lasted until a couple weeks ago. I took that time to refresh the top end of my Bronco.
- head gasket
- new/old FoMoCo 4V intake (bought it on its 55 birthday)
- aluminum radiator (Griffin)
- Lokar kickdown cable
Also
- new twin shift from JB-Fab (much better action than the unknown variety I had)
- new tires (BFG KOs that I squirreled away once the KO2s showed up)

Fired it up this weekend – all well.
The Bronco certainly has more pep than before. The new kick-down cable works wonderfully! I may have to back off the kickdown (about ¾ now) to keep it outside the hooligan zone!

Notes:
The Griffin radiator (7-70126 with A/T support) –
You will need to different fittings or use adapters for your transmission lines. You can purchase a brass 1/8-1/4 NPT adapter fittings at your local hardware store and re-use the original fittings. This is kinda clunky so I measured and ordered AN-fittings. The proper AN fitting is AN816-5-4 (steel) or AN816-5-4D (aluminum). I used the steel as the lines and B-nuts are steel. The fitting insert in the radiator is brass so no way around some dissimilar metal. The AN fitting makes for a nice installation as it is a single fitting (no adapter). I would install these prior to radiator install and use thread sealant – or they will leak. Also need 4-core supports.

Lokar kickdown (KD-20C4HT) –
I am using this for kickdown only – normal throttle linkage to a Holley 390cfm. You will need to order the carb stand-off mount as well (SRK-4000). I attempted to mount per instructions, but the throttle body fitting would interfere with the top edge of my valve covers (if I had a carb spacer, I do not think this would happen). I had to mount the fitting on the backside throttle lever/arm – no big deal as the kit is really a universal type install. I also installed the kickdown bracket on the side closer to the carb mount for better alignment.

looks great, very clean looking job

Did an Explorer radiator swap over the weekend. Haven't ran or filled it yet, waiting on a part to arrive tomorrow. I did write up a tech article today to document the conversion. Assuming all goes well, I'll send it to Jon to post.

Put the front fenders and grille back on. Took it for a ride around the ranch. It was a good day, first drive in a few months.

Went for an evening drive. Took this picture. Went home and started thinking about new tires, and a lift, and a soft top, and a roll cage, and new body bushings, and that hard starting issue...

Hey hey.... That looks like it still may have been a bit cool breezy ride! Spring is coming! Even after a winter hibernation, that Bronco is still as yellow as ever!:)

With the Bronco in the exhaust shop, the Wife said I could have a play day. ;D

So Monday I ran the Shelby at Laguna Seca with Hooked on Driving. Beautiful day, got up to 73*. (of course the rain is back today)
This shot is from the top of the Corkscrew...

Ready now for the 67 to come home from the exhaust shop...

Re-installed the headers with new Remflex gaskets and Percy's Vibelock header bolts. Hopefully this will stop the header leak.

Finished up my strut bar yesterday. This is a temp solution so I can get it back on the trail soon.
