Gassed it and loaded it up on the trailer for a SMORR weekend. Should be nice and quite there, I believe most folks will be at Disney Ok and the Big Meats Run.

Time to test out the steering box rebuild for real.

Here’s something I kinda did for my Bronco.

Took a trip to the shady part of town where I was able to procure a really nice RKI side mount tool box. These things go for like $480 new but Angel was selling them out of the back of a U-Haul storage center for $75 cash..

The lock was busted on it for some reason. Hmmm... wonder how that happened? I guess that’s why he was selling them so cheap.....

Any way, it fits perfect on my trailer. I bolted it down, filled it with tools and straps and such, and had a cold beer.....

Got into the Dana 20 and found my output shaft gear in this condition.

6 phone calls later I think I found the only one in the country. Do these go out often and why is no one making replacements?

I picked up my newly re-foamed and recovered Explorer seats and Explorer spare tire cover. Picking up newly painted Bronco on Monday and then the reassembly fun begins!

Where did you get yours? And are they available in different sizes?

Went for an evening drive. Took this picture. Went home and started thinking about new tires, and a lift, and a soft top, and a roll cage, and new body bushings, and that hard starting issue...

And so it starts...
Down the rabbit hole again. But it sure is a fun way to spend a day with your Bronco
Great pic and looks like a great day! I see next year's calendar submission.

Here's the version where you're way out in the outback with no pavement in sight, prospecting for adventure.%);D

Bummer. Hate it when that happens. And no, it's not often, but it's often enough.
If you had such a hard time finding them, I wonder how many are left.
Some were made out of metal though, and let the driven gear on the end of the speedo shaft be the sacrificial component instead. Which is fine with me because the one on the shaft is such a pain to replace compared to the cable.

Did you get the same "tooth" count as your old one? Did you find any with different counts?

Not a bad price at all. I got to get one too, as well as darn spare tire rack or TWO

Brought it out of hybernation, topped off the fluids, filled up the tank next to a mall crawler Heep (he would not make eye contact) drove it to another member’s house and convineced him to sell me his 66 rear pony bench seat ;D good day so far, Bronco ran great!

A Pony rear bench? Holy cow, nice find! I'd call that a score even if you had to pay higher than good-buddy pricing.
Now to match the front seats...

Which may not be too hard actually, since the Mustang people probably sell covers that might fit the Bronco front buckets. Maybe?

Cool beans either way. Not many of them around after all these years.

Yes Sir, he recovered the bottom a while back, and reinforced the base, but the backrest is original. I don't know if someone dyed it black as I've only seen parchment?

But yes i redid my 66 Mustang interior with the pony interior some years ago...for my 66 Bronco I'd like to use the premium seat foam with the high sides on the bottom, and find some headrests from a 69 or so Mustang...think I've read somewhere that this has been done.

Here's a pic of my mock-up ;D...more to get the seats out of the way in my limited-space garage than to mock-up, but it's fun to get a visual ;)
