So now the header is in I need to get the part that will transition to the exhaust pipe. The exhaust round seal are still on and I can see where the exhaust marks were. I measured that and it is 2.5 " So I guess a 2.5 inside diameter extension would be correct with either a 2.5 or 2" pipe

So, this morning I recevied my restored 1100 carburator and it looks great. Also put the old air cleaner system back on, and started laying out the new brake lines.

Trying to figure out the top bushing sequence and size. Since I don't have any bushings at this time. The lower gap is 1 1/2" so do they sell those?

Slow going, but got the shocks and body back on the frame. Now I can get started on the floor pans and under seat panel.
Thanks for following

Made a list of remaing items to get the Bronco started again. That has led me to all the small but important items in the engine compartment. I was very surprised to see that NAPA had the heater control valve. Mine was shot Not sure where that goes if it is mounted on the firewall or just float on the hose. I'll get some pictures once done. Also had the remaining 2 exhaust connection sent for the headers. Oh well, tomorrow...................

hey nice headers! ;D. I never got around to it but I would suggest wrapping them with some heat wrap. They put off some serious heat which is not ideal for the little carb above them. or better yet channel your inner fabricator and fab up some type of heat shield ;)

sorry wish I'd mentioned it sooner (while you had the body off) but I haven't been on here much lately. Keep after it Roger looking good!!

Having trouble figuring out the clutch linkage attaching the pedal to what. If anyone has a picture that would be great. I'll check you tube.
Added the water hoses and got the header extension to run the exhaust. Wanted it running before I tackle the body work and rear bed.

Trying to figure out the top bushing sequence and size.
Slow going, but got the shocks and body back on the frame.

I see you have them together, so got that figured out. But some details you might not have known, or found out on the run so to speak.

The shock boots usually have a slot at the top, basically the double-lip of the top opening, that will fit around that white collar at the top of the shaft, just below the bushings.

The top stem bushings come in two flavors usually. One has a thin lip, while the other has a wide lip. Which one you use depends on the side of the hole in the mounting bracket. If it's a big hole, you get the wide lip. Small hole, thin lip.
There are certainly variations in overall thickness, and even in how deep the lips extend, but the two basic sizes are relatively consistent.

In the old days of only rubber bushings they were laid out so that as you tightened the nut and the bushings started to squeeze out, you stopped when the rubber had just squished barely past the diameter of the washers.
With polyurethane however, and multiple and inconsistent manufacturers, that rule kind of went out the window with everything else.
Now there may still be a specification by some, but it's best to follow the bushing manufacturer's recommendations. Or the shock manufacturer, if the bushings were supplied.

Hey Paul, I was wondering about the shock sleeve and if they went under or over the thin plate. Never had them so I went back and forth and said I have more to do so I will come back to that issue when I do the brakes and have the tires off.
Thank You

Got the Bronco running again and man it sounds pretty good with the open headers. Old fuel line needs to be replaced from pump to carb. and a few things need tightening but all i all pretty cool. Having some trouble with the cable return of the gas pedal. The funky bracket or cable may not be set right.

Pretty hard to find a throttle cable for my 6 cylinder. No one seems to have one. Looks like the white plastic noodle that the cable runs in has separated. Trying some JB Weld.

I don't think they reproduce those cables, post an ad in Parts Wanted, somebody's got one laying around ;)

I started the day pulling the front driver drum/hub. Needed a new brake cylinder. Pretty nasty in their from years of sitting. Once back together I will start bleeding the brakes in an effort to be able to move under its own power. Fixed the throttle linkage and the motor started right up. So moving along.
