Then I decided to ditch the explorer oil pan and go back to the original Bronco pan to solve some dipstick and exhaust routing issues.
so I had to clean and paint the old pan, and I modified and welded up the dip stick fitting plate...

It was a good running transmission, just a bit leaky. so I painted it up, some new seals and gaskets and redid the servos...

I also installed a B&M deep pan... they want you to install the filter to the extension with these silly little screws and nuts. didn't seem like that would be much fun doing it on the stand never mind doing it under the vehicle... so I welded some nuts to the extension and used some better bolts then finished installing the pan with some stainless flange head bolts. also painted it cast iron color...

Then I installed the adapter housing, neutral safety switch and kick down lever. adjusted the bands with some new lock nuts and that's it. so now I've got two transmissions ready to go to choose from.
wonder which one will end up in this Bronco...%) flip a coin??;D

i run the same pan, do you worry about the heat transfer at all being diminished due to painting? or do you think its negligible? i guess they claim the ribbing will allow transfer of heat...

also, why did you keep the H servo instead of going billet? just curious, not saying it was a bad call, just like the feedback!!

Not really worried at all about heat transfer, but I do want the pan to stay looking nice rather than to have bare and cast aluminum oxidize as well as stain from absorbing dirt and grease. I mostly went with this pan out of convenience vs fixing my stock pan or sourcing one to purchase. The stiffness and added fluid capacity is a nice additional bonus though.;D

As for the servo, this transmission was already a runner. I just wanted to fix some of the leaks. It's stock and it works so no need to mess with it in my case.
