Is that inner diameter. Trying to build this

The front frame horns on my '77 measure 2.25" inside at the bottom, almost 2.50" inside at the top and about 4" vertically.

Just an Fyi >> the term diameter is used relating to circular items and not a rectangular opening. The 2”x4” box steel does slide into the frame as mentioned. The rear frame does curve and will limit how far the steel tube can go in.

FWIW, the inside radius of the frame limits the 2x4 tube that will slide into my '77 frame horns...I could tap a chunk of 2x4x3/16 into them, but 2x4x1/4 slid in somewhat readily due to the larger corner radii. I don't have a piece of 2x4x1/8 laying around, but I don't think it would fit without a big hammer/press/something, and then I'm not sure it would come out.
