77 gas doors-Need a photo

I am working on "fixing" some of the sins of my Bronco's previous owner. He had the rear fenders replaced, and 77 gas doors installed. Other than some of the bodywork being done by a 5 year old, the two gas doors don't seem "right". It is very difficult to get gas nozzles into the hoses. Seems like the doors don't open far enough (?)

Does anyone have any photos of what these are supposed to look like? Should they open to 90* from the body?

Not mine, I just remember seeing these doors from a previous auction but it looks as if their doors and yours are about at the same hinged angle. I wonder if the arm could be gently bent to allow some additional clearance.

Link to the action is dead, but if you Google 'For Sale: 1977 Ford Bronco in Bettendorf, Iowa' it should be the second result if you want to see the original picture location.

Here's mine. The doors get in the way and the recessed filler neck is not designed for modern gas pump nozzles. It can be a pain to fill them sometimesÂ…

You know, I never thought that the gas pump nozzles were different in the 70s. It is the vapor recovery nozzles that cause most of my issues.

That explains why its easier to pump fuel in our Broncos with the nozzles upside down.
