That an interesting impact as far as what it did and didn't do to the bronco. Definitely looks like it was the only vehicle involved, and I'm guessing it hit a tree at a high rate of speed. Mostly diameter and shape of the impact area, or possibly a power pole. Doesn't look like the doors were forced open by fire fighters either, no sign of blood on the seats, roof or windows from what I can see either. Strange accident for sure. The only wrecks I've ever worked that have looked like that were telephone poles and trees that I can remember.

I’m assuming it was a wooden pole. There is some wood stuck in the left front radius arm c cup. Also there is no paint transfer on the Bronco. The impact was directly on the left front frame horn.

Got the dash and wiring harness out today. Now you can see where it pushed the steering column bracket through the firewall. The driver’s floor pan is pushed against the brake pedal. It bent the bracket for the brake pedal and completely trashed the gas pedal. The last picture is of the cross support for the front floor pans. It broke the welds and pulled the driver side bolt through the pan when the frame buckled. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get the body off and post some pics of the frame carnage and drivetrain.

Well got the body off today and the motor/transmission. I have NEVER seen a frame with this much damage. Brings a whole new meaning to the term Z’d frame! The transmission case and bell-housing are broke. The starter, left exhaust manifold, timing cover and front differential are also broken. Good thing I’ve got enough spare parts lying around!

I know lol! I’m thinking of fixing the transmission with JB Weld, Gorilla tape and then some flex seal and sell it to JD!!!!

Yeah I’ve never seen a frame that bad. It looks like the driver floor pan had been replaced but the welds didn’t penetrate.

Got cleaned up today and moved the 71 into the shop. The next thing I’ll do is clean the rusted spot welds and redo a few areas in it. Also will have to work on the door gaps at the quarter panels. I’m way ahead of the game right now compared to where I normally start! I’ll also need to take a look at my other frame and see if it’s useable or need to go another route. This frame’s rear section is rusted out and already been patched on.

Door gaps, ha ha. Those look factory acceptable to me. If it shuts and latches that ford quality job one.

Got some time to work on the Bronco today. Separated the motor, trans and transfer case. The flywheel is warped and broke from the impact and the input shaft for trans is bent. Went and looked at the 68 I had and will be using that frame. Also picked up my Explorer and began pulling the motor and harness from it. I have no idea what kind of power steering sector the 68 has. The steering shaft goes through the inner fender to connect. Once I get the motor and everything out of the Explorer I’ll pull the body on the 68.

Good brother. Busy as usual. Took my 78 apart again. I can’t seem to leave well enough alone. Glad to see you making progress.

I know what you mean. Hopefully next week I’ll be able to get the motor and wiring out of the Explorer. And we never leave nothing alone. Looking at putting fuel injection on the 427 Cobra now. Too many projects!

Got the motor and transmission out of the Explorer today. It’s a 97 with GT40P heads. The plan right now is to use this motor and transmission. I’ll finish getting the wiring harness out and move on to getting the body off of the frame I’ll be using.

Haven’t done much lately but was able to remove the motor, transmission and wiring from the 97 Explorer. Also got other body over to the shop that I’m going to use for parts.

Haven’t done much lately but was able to remove the motor, transmission and wiring from the 97 Explorer. Also got other body over to the shop that I’m going to use for parts.

Looking good Joey! Man your crazy, you mention not having time but you have listed three different Broncos and an Explorer motor pull in this 5 page thread alone. I struggle with time to change the oil...

Keep up the awesome work and motivation. :)
