I paid $150. for 1969 351W long block that was pulled out of a stang. Back in 98. its has better heads than later years but it needed to be rebuilt.

Running or not that engine is over a half century old. It should be rebuilt. Regional markets vary but 300-500 tops around here.

The '69 blocks weren't exactly highly sought after...they have shorter deck heights, which can cause problems with some stroker kits and apparently an additional 10-14 pounds of material relative to the '75 and later blocks, that I have yet to here a good argument for whether it made them any stronger. I don't know what they're selling for, but a core 351W tends to list for $250-$700 on CL and FB Marketplace in Oregon, pan to carb with front engine dress.

I have a local guy pestering me about buying my ‘69 351 for $1,000. He said he is restoring a ‘69 something car and wants the correct engine. I guess you have to find someone like that to sell it too.

The MX 351Ws are worth more to some especially the marine folks and '69 would be in the era.

I have been told that the nickel content in a 69-70 block is higher than later years, making it stronger. I have no proof to back this theory, but that is a big part of why high horsepower guys want the blocks.

Of course the heads flow better, which is commonly known.

The 351W block has a 9.48" deck height on '69-'72s. From then on the deck height went to 9.503"' The heads were the same on '69-'74s. In '75 they got air injection. The whole front dress is identical to EB 289-302s including the harmonic damper. This includes Ford factory adapters for the alternator and power steering pumps that allow the EB front dress on other 351Ws. The '69 4 bbl intake is the best for hood clearance in 351W to EB engine swaps. All in all it's the best source for a 351W to swap into an EB. The original 2bbl pistons will give you an ideal 9.5 to 1 compression with the '69-'72 block and heads. So '69 Mustang and EB owners doing a 351 swap will find the engine desirable. There are some unleaded fuel modifications to the heads and exhaust valves to do. I'd ask $800.
