hello again, thank you all for so much help along the way. parts are arriving and i'm having a blast putting this little truck back together. I've looked at several restored 66 bronco photos and can't find a close up of the little clip that holds the lug wrench and jack handle behind the drivers seat, let alone anyone that carries one. At this point i will blame the trouble i'm having on my ignorance. Having driven a Studebaker for a very long time now, i've learned the proper terms for the parts i need, but am still having difficulty with the Bronco. I've searched for jack tool clip, jack handle clip, lug wrench clip... and can't find it. I looked closely at Blue Bastards U13 restoration, and there is a photo looking down at the floor behind the drivers seat but zooming in close on the enlarged original it's too fuzzy to make it out. First, what is this little doodad called, second, does anybody have a close up photo of one, and third, does anybody know if they're available after market? I'm sure once i learn the proper name for it it'll be much easier to search for and to find...

thanks so much in advance, i do sincerely appreciate the friendliness and helpfulness of this group and the time you take to photograph and document and reply to all these inquiries. it's a fun forum to read while getting ready to go to bed!

I can get some close up pics if you need them from my 66. The passenger side hold down is welded to the floor, so is the base of the driver side hold down.

The passenger side back rear jack bracket is still there, i saw after my father in law had it painted they painted right over the jacking instructions sticker, so i replaced the sticker and got a new jack hold-down clip. Closeup of the tool bracket/clip would be good. The photo from TheGreatJustino is good, it looks like his is flat metal with two 90 degree radius/curved bends on the sides to correspond with the spacing of the right side clips would work, i can fab one of those, but if it's beveled, or has dimples or other forms (bends for stiffening), a closeup photo of the bracket/clip would be great. I was going to form it out of 1/16x1-1/4" zinc plated flat stock, but can make it different if it is built as such. Considering nobody repro's it, and photos of an original are hard to come by, i'm very eager to get as much info as I can. As in the two clips that pinch the fuel line and vacuum line together as they pass around the valve cover of my 170 inline 6, i had to make those two from what I could gather with photos. I'm not building a 399 point restoration, but as i replace parts I use what is as close to original, or possibly "concourse" as possible. sure it costs a little, but with such a complete original truck, i'm not worried about spending a little $ to make it as close to original as possible. This weekend I painted a new K-H 15x5.5 rim (well new to me, it has rivets so it's not new at all!) and the jack hold down bracket. I used the Dupli-Color rattle can wimbledon white, and after having read some folks think it's a little thin, i'd agree. I mix my spray a little thicker, but so what, two-three coats the parts look fine. My farmall F that I restored last year I had to paint two coats of that, so it takes a little longer, but the paint is thicker, it hardens nice and looks nice. This is going to be a driver (along with my 51 Stude half ton) for errands, hardware store, dump what have you... so it'll be used and I don't expect it to stay pristine, but like it to look nice and as original as possible. Thanks Okie! i would love some close up pictures and any data as in - is your clip original?

Yes, the base of the jack hold down is welded... mine is good. The welded to the floor clips towards the center of the truck is there, one was bent incorrectly, so i corrected that. The bracket to which this clip of which i'm inquiring is also welded to the floor directly behind the drivers seat, my interest is in the part which is held in place with the carriage bolt and wing nut, and secures the lug wrench and jack crank handle in place. thanks Okie!

I'm in a similar situation, except that I had nothing to start with for holding the tire tools. I bought this clip and bracket from Northeast Classic, but need help with the other welded bracket.

Northeast has it? hmmm i'm happy to support nick he and his wife have been so very helpful with parts and information. In fact i just got two boxes from him today. I'll look on his site. That bracket has square corners whereas the one in the photo by the great justino looks like the bends are radius'ed to fit around the tools... time to go to the shop after i look at Northeast! thanks 735!

The two pieces he shows in his photos are what holds the tools in place on the left side in the photo I posted. He does not have the bracket on the right.

The hold down brackets consist of two pieces welded to the floor and the small piece that holds the tools down with the bolt and wing nut.

That's correct. I'd like a close up picture of the right side bracket so I could fab one.
Thanks, Bob

Thanks folks for the photos of the brackets. My early build 66 is missing the center bracket (toward center of the truck from the driver's seat). It looks easy enough to fabricate. The wing nut-ed driver's side slot bracket is still there. No wing nut though. So Nick sells that hold down and wingnut? Hmm. I might just fab that one too. Now if I can only find an original jack wrench... oh, and the original jack too.

Bracket made and painted, tools secure! I made the tool bracket with two radii since the tools are different sizes ( figured I’d share my madness Dr Dan,, )Thank you everybody!
