• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

I sold the son (or nephew, I can't remember) of the original owner those hubcaps a couple of years ago. He offered to sell me the Bronco for I want to say $30k. While considering it he texted me to say he got an even higher offer, so I decided to pass.

Let's see how much I end up kicking myself for passing once the auction ends.

yes I believe it was the son-in-law of his wife's grandpa. They said they looked everywhere at there vacation property garage but could not find the original caps anywhere. Bronco came with 3 sets of wheels, some scratched from hub cap jaws, some clean and another set of skinny white spokes. I picked the cleanest set and put it back to its original look.

Out of curiosity, what is that bezel behind the drivers door on the hardtop?

that is a key slot for some type of alarm I believe?
it has a square button under the dash area and used to have some sort of radio mount on floor.
there is some talk on the BaT auction site, did you see it? some believe this could of been a county vehicle or some type of service?
anyways, hope that cures your curiosity : ]

I remember seeing keys like that for alarms on high dollar cars in the 80s. Seems weird that they would put one on a Bronco. Definitely an interesting history on that one.

No, I'm not bidding. I got stung on an auction a couple years ago, and haven't been back! My philosophy is that if you can't see it and touch it, you shouldn't buy it. But that's just me.

As a teenager, I worked at a Chevy dealership and we had several corvettes that had keys similar to a GM door bezel on the driver's side fender. When you armed the alarm, you "locked" the key on the fender. The dealership required the lot kids to arm the alarms when we parked them. The salesmen couldn't seem to figure this out and would trip the alarms everytime they went to show a car.

Seems to me that they were early 80s corvettes.

I hear ya on the seeing and touching part. Its tough due to prices and distances etc but I do feel BaT holds a higher caliber clientele and things are a lot more transparent.

did you get to see the 77 on the BaT auction? did you see the thread regarding original paint etc? wondering if you had an opinion or experience coming from the dealership world?

This was not only a bone stock survivor but a very clean 77, rare Wimbledon White, with all the bells n whistles.
I'm glad somebody good got it.
I'm glad it's not going to a Coyote hunter
I'm glad you got a good deal let alone a great deal
I'm happy to of provided that deal.
enjoy : ]
