I have the oppurtunity to buy a set of axles off of a 1978 or 1979 Bronco for 200.00 and I remove them. The front has discs and the rear is standard drums. I currently run stock Dana 30 and a good 9 inch rear. I think I can get the power steering gearbox thrown into the deal. Is this a good deal?

Definitely!. The full-size later model Bronco guys would kill for a deal like that to do an SAS in the front and get rid of the 8.8 in the rear. The PS box is a benny..just needs the guts from a 2wd box to use in an EB upgrade..;)

You need to narrow that D44 5" on the pass side to put it under your rig and still use EB inner axles..or you can find a drum brake D44 EB housing and just use eveything from knuckles out to make it disk. The chunk out of that 9" will be 31-spline too..if you didn't know that already.

Yeah Gummi Bear, I have the motor running perfect, Transmission and transfer case work perfect. I was about to do the complete brake system but then I started considering this deal instead. Still haven't gotten up the nerve to cut out the fenders though. I will, just not yet. After the brakes, the only things left are the wipers(vacuum) and the blinkers and I will be driving it. I am psyched to say the least.

A couple years ago I bought just the front Dana 44 h.p. for $150 and thought I got a good deal. Yours bets mine. Grab it or let me know where it's at and I'll jump on it (if you pass)

I paid $300 for a set but it was the HP D44 earlier model with welded wedges and the FW 9" rear axle.

$300 was a deal for me.. You're getting it cheaper.
Better hurry before someone offers the seller more for them.

Last HP44 front I bought was 75 bucks, and the rears are even cheaper. If they are good condition I would say 200 is OK, but your certainly not stealing them
