77 rear brake (parking brake lever) question

On my parking brake lever, attached to the inside of the rearward brake shoe, the fork that holds the cable just looks wrong to me. The cable looks as if it could slide off to the inside of the lever pretty easily. I'm 100% sure I have the lever on the correct side. Is this normal? I can't post pics till later.

Thanks

I'm no expert, but I was putting longer cables on my 66 yesterday, for a lift kit I installed, and thought the same thing when I looked at the lever and the way it was bent on the end. It looked like the cable could slide off of it, but I think the spring on the drum end of the cable keeps spring tension on the cable so it stays in place and does not come off.
