9" housing feature?

Does anyone know what these are for?

Hard to tell by the pick but are they vents, maybe not a truck 9 inch

Sway bar, my 9” off 86 f150 has them also

Sway bar bracket sat over these to keep them from rotating on housing. They clamped on with U-bolts.

I asked the same thing a couple years ago.

Thanks for the info. I will probably end up cutting them off. I will look at the stock application to see if it could be valuable.
