Hey fellas
I am in the process of installing the BC broncos Arctic Air Box. I have searched thru the forums all morning trying to find what I am supposed to do with the EGR valve? Does anyone have any info on this? I have attached pics of the sensor that I am referring to. Also an updated pic of the build. I am 6 weeks away from my wedding and trying to get it to where we can drive off in it!
Thank you
Zac

I see your in Memphis so no emissions right?

Answer....Ditch it along with the elbow......I had EFI_guy take the EGR out of the ECM and blocked it off......

I'm not using the AAB but am using the complete upper intake for a 97 Explorer

Are you trying to keep the EGR?

1996-> early 97 have internally fed EGR gases, mid to late 97-2001 are externally fed. So if you are not keeping EGR the source from the lower manifold needs blocked off. Also the ECU needs re-flashed for that.

If you are trying to keep EGR, that is another story...

I dont see a shot at 6 weeks driving it unless one of those T.V. shows with 6 professionals comes and does it one weekend, but maybe I am slow.

You Can Do It;)

I assembled mine in 4 weeks from a pile of painted parts and hauled it to Moab to wheel for a week, only wrenched on it for 10 minutes or less everyday, mostly nut and bolting everything making sure nothing was falling off and the fluids were full. Thumped on it everyday.

That solves it then, I have gotten old and slow.

if you are keeping EGR you can use a mustang EGR plate and nix the elbow

https://www.bbkperformance.com/mustang-5-0-65mm-egr-spacer-plate-86-93.html

no idea how that messes up geometry to the air box, but for internal egr its simple to delete the elbow and keep the EGR

Hank

Hank beat me to it. I am installing one of these right now. You can order the BBK EGR plate in 60, 65 or 70 mm variants. I went with the 65 to match the other higher flowing Explorer 65 mm TB. The plate wasnt too bad, under a hundred...maybe around $75. I forget.

Best of luck, you may need to run a flex hose or buy a section of SS tube (with appropriate angle/bend and a pair of couplers) to mate to your Artic Air Box, but you should be good to go!

...note to self, scroll first, read all posts....
