Antenna Mod

A while back I saw a post about modifying the Bronco antenna. I do not like the stock antenna in the fender. It is also way too expensive to replace. The thread I saw talked about getting an antenna from an old Isuzu or Subaru or something like that. It is one that is mounted to the windshield frame and is nearly hidden from view. I found the right one new at Autozone. Had it delivered new for $26 with free shipping. I mounted it this morning. Very sleek and took 10 minutes to do. Still setting up my body before final body work and paint so this was a good time to get it installed.

This is the part I ordered from Autozone.

I made a hole in the windshield frame for the wire to go in.

The cable comes out the hole in the windshield frame:

Simple install with two screws. One attached the base and another attaches a small support up higher that the antenna runs through.
Both the base and the small support came with rubber gaskets.

Not sure it will clear the drip rail on the top. If not, I'll just make a couple aluminum spacers to bring it out a bit.

Yeah, this is a great, simple mod. Thanks for posting the Autozone part number.

Mine does barely clear the bikini top drip rail, but to be honest I never raise the antenna. Never have an issue getting reception.

Yep, one of those posts gave me the idea. Pretty nice not to have to go to the junk yard to find one. In stock, Autozone online.
