Body work completed

Few questions. First off I’m all finished with my first attempt at body work. At this point I couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out with no experience.

My question is. With all the dust and junk it’s covered in. What is the best way to clean the tub for primer?

Secondly. I have two 33 gallon compressors. I was going to tie them together so I can increase my air. Has anyone ever done this? Thank you all

get out your compressor and blow as much of the dust off as you can, then get a couple packages of "tack" cloth and gently wipe it down. It'll pick up all that extra dust. Then You can use a cleaner that will remove any wax or minor residue with a good micro fiber cloth. Once you got it all cleaned off should be ready for primer: acid etch vs epoxy the pros will have to chime in there. I just epoxy primed mine since it's pretty universal and can be applied over bare metal with some residual paint. Once your primer is down you can use guide coat and do your final blocking to get it perfect, repeat said steps again until youre happy with it, then give it a final prime job and slap some paint on it...

Nice job. Looking good. How well do those dollies work? Harbor Freight? Looking at a set for mine. Too much crap in my garage with Bronco parts and doing upholstery on the side.

Dollies couldn’t work better. I roll it out of the garage and just have to take them off the dollies to go over big cracks then back on. Ya I do everything in a single car garage

Its looking good. You should be proud. Reminds me a lot of my build. Built mine in the garage too. Hopefully you can get some paint on it soon. Cant wait to see it

yes you can tie two compressors together. I would put a shut off valve and water trap at each one. You can adjust the pressure switches if there is one you would prefer to come on first. I have a big 3 phase compressor that comes on first, if it gets behind, the second one kicks in.

I would blow it off real good with a compressor then wipe it down real good with WG (wax and grease) remover until the rags stay clean then scuff with some 120 grit and wipe again with WG followed by tack rag then a couple good coats of epoxy primer. I like using black epoxy primer under my high build and fillers as it will show up when you sand the high build and you will know when to stop. Good luck with it. Ken

Yep, my order is DA sand the entire vehicle with a 220 grit.
- followed by blowing everything off real good, then wax and grease remover about 3 times.
-then 2 nice thick coats epoxy,
-then wait 1 hour and spray 2 thick coats of high build primer.

Then the next day block sand everything with a 400 grit on a long sanding block. Be prepared to need to use some body filler in some spots over the primer where problems can now be seen.

Then mix a final epoxy coat as a sealer the day your gonna paint, shoot the sealer in the morning and paint within your primers recoat window for the best paint to primer adhesion.

Go to the paint store in old down town Merriam, just off Johnson Drive. Ask for Tony (hopefully he is still around). I was a novice and he worked me through painting a unique flying vehicle. This was over 15 years ago and the paint still looks great!

Anytime I am prepping, cleaning or painting, I go down there. I believe the product to get all the dirt, grease, wax, etc off was "First Kleen". But they will know and have it there. This stuff was great! The amount of oil and grease I had to remove was outlandish and around thousands of rivet heads - it did the job - no paint bubbling or adhesion problems.

They are also great to look at a vehicle, use a test gun and do a little of their own interpretation of modifiers to match the current state of your paint and put all of that in a spray can. I used them to get the paint for my flares to match the patina of the rest of the vehicle.
