I didn't want to do it, as it was in such nic condition, but sometimes you got to bite the bullet, and hack away. Once I am done with the project you won't be able to tell I hacked it up, as this is just the first part of the project

Anyone have any idea what I am doing?????????????????????

sorry about the crappy cell phone picture

making room to support your fancy super secret soft top.

well I decided I am going to keep the half cab
I saw this a while ago, and while I liked the idea, I thought I could do better. By cutting out the little ears on the dash, I can get the legs two inches closer without notching the top of the legs.

I like the concept Don. You are always thinking.

I'd like to finish my cage someday also and put the front hoop, but I don't want to block the dash etc..

Interested to see it at BYOB next week.

I did mine behind the dash, but this is probably the best mod I have done. I hate cages that stick so far out away from the dash, ruins visibility, hurts every time you bank your knee and kills my 2x55xwing window air conditioner! I am interested to see how your approach works out...should be pretty cool!!

I got the metal peices from the steel place, still have to do a little tweeking, and weld on some extra material to stiffen them up. When I am done they will be close to 1/2 thick, actually 3/8 thick

here are some pics, will give you a idea

don, i dont see this working to well/ even if its 3/4 thick. plate steel will bend. is the roll cage being attached at dash pad height? are you adding another plate to this to make a t beam/ angle assembly? seems like a good start but will it be strong? not bend when needed? see you saturday, the rug in the truck looks good ,too!!!!!

Don,

I would like to see you put some re-enforcement under that plate as well. God forbid you ever really NEED the roll bar, that piece of steel will fold like a piece of cooked speghetti.

...might want to wear knee pads when getting in and out. OUCH!
