Double check. '97 used both P and non-P heads.
The switch from GT40 heads to GT40P heads was Jan. or Feb. 1997 (even Ford isn't sure).
So if you have a 1997 model year Explorer or Mountaineer you need to check which it has.
The cast iron exhaust manifolds are claimed to flow slightly better than the tubing ones, but then they could hardly be worse.
The problem with switching the tube manifolds for cast is the changeover was made when Ford went to a different EGR set-up.
