Right. There it is in plain sight directly connected to the exhaust manifold and I missed that.

With the seven main bearings and turbo at reasonable boost setting it could last awhile.

I've been working on an interesting similar project. It's a 200-I6 with an aluminum head, SEFI, EDIS, 4R70W, and an Eaton M90 Supercharger. All ran off of a Ford PCM. No idea what it will make for power but it should be interesting.

Pretty sure the 170 only had 4 main bearings
In 1966 when the 200 came along for the Mustang they went to 5 freeze plugs & 7 main bearings
I also remember seeing a thread about a 66 Bronco that was turbocharged & raced up ski hills in Colorado or Utah, I looked but couldn't find it - anyone else remember that one?

I recall the 170 was a 4-main bearing in cars, but the Bronco (van/truck) version got the 7-bearing.

More bearings help stabilize the crank, but it still isn't a performance piece. That is a long crank for a cast piece.
The head is what really hurts, just can't flow. Boost is mainly a sign that it just can't flow.

You are correct. The 200 would make a much stronger baseline.

Hi, visit fordsix.com. There are plenty of guys building high performance inline sixes. Start with boring and decking the block, select a better piston, and plan on a different cylinder head or plenty of head work. There are lots of cam choices. Fordsix has a turbo and blower forum. Good luck

That sounds like a cool project! Is the M90 from the Thunderbird SC?

Charlie Erickson had a supercharged '66 dune toy that eventually ended up with a family in Utah (the son is/was a member here). Truck is white.

That's the one I was thinking of - I knew it had Boost! It's a Paxton blower with 2 blow thru carbs - That's a unique set up!!

Great thread with loads of cool pics.

I recall seeing a big block six (240/300) in a rear engine dragster at the World Finals or maybe the Winter Nationals in about 1988 or so. It had a 4V Cleveland cylinder head on it. Caught my eye because of the gold ano'd Moroso rocker cover on it. Remember when you weren't cool if you didn't have a set of those? Got to looking at it and someone had furnace-brazed three 4V Cleveland cyl. heads together. Couldn't be two because how the cuts had to be made. Rocker cover was the same deal, cut up three of them and then TIG'd them together. I'm sure that there were a LOT of little details that had to happen for it to work at all. I've long wondered whatever became of that engine.....

That is a possibility as I have seen various opinions on this. I have attached link to the small six id section of fordsix.com:

The OP states he has a 68 170.

I think recently someone grafted a few LS heads together and put them on a 300. The real early 300s also had a forged crank. But it was only a year or two, and I think only on the BIG trucks. Rare piece.
