Instructions for belt trim installation. Do they exist?

I am wondering if instructions or a description of the belt trim installation may be available anywhere? I get the general idea, but wanted to see if there was any known resource available to help me avoid mistakes in installation. I am starting with a Bronco that does not have any holes for rivets. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I just did my 74. I started on the tailgate and laid masking tape where the bottom of the chrome piece would be. Then I did the drivers side with the tape. I measured my trim piece and measured up 1/2 of that(from the bottom of the tape.) Then I looked in the Toms catalog to get an idea of where the holes should be. I laid out the holes, making sure that the ones that were near the edge of the door, etc. were accessible to put a nut on. I then center punched them and drilled thru (the scariest part of the job...drilling a hole in a nice truck.) I think I drilled 1/8 holes for the rivets, and a 1/32 bigger than the screw on the clips that go in the chrome. If you have any questions, just ask.

First thing is to get your doors lined up. Use a stringline or tape line to pull a straight line. I think I used 3/4" tape, with bottom on the body line. Be careful where you drill your holes - especially in the rear. The one in the very back needs to be accessed from the little cover above the tail light (on the inside of the tub). Then, on the one just around the corner, make sure that you can access it before you drill it. I think where I drilled my first hole, it interfered with the actual chrome molding, so I had to move it an inch one way or the other.

Hey! Thanks man! The tape idea is a good one. I am scared to drill holes in mine too!

The bolts by the tail light housing are the toughest to tighten up. Make sure you can get at the nuts inside before you drill your holes. The bottom of the tape goes where the bottom of the trim strip goes. Measure up from there. It's not really as hard as you think it is. Just take your time, think about each move, and it will turn out fine.

Would nutzerts work on them?

I don't know what nutzerts are. You can get at the nuts, going thru the taillight hole if you use a small wrench or 1/4 drive socket.

Is there a way to bookmark this? I will be doing this at some point in the future, and your method looks like the best.

At the top right click "thread tools" and then "subscribe to this thread". That will let you find it later. You can also choose to get emails when the thread gets updated if you like.
