Motor mounts for V-8 swap

I am going to replace my tired 200ci 6cyl in my '69 with a '90 Mustang 5.0 motor, do I have to grind off and replace the welded motor mounts on the frame, or do I just get new V-8 motor mount bolts only? I am also swapping out the 3-speed manual with a C-4 if it matters...I know this is a VERY common swap, but I've never heard much about motor mount issues. I just want things to go smoothly.
Any help or general advice would be greatly approciated!

cut the old ones off and replace with the above mounts. really helps to find a v-8 frame and take measurments before welding in place. i had two v-8 frames and both had slightly different measurments. i built a jig from one and averaged all the readings. i'd give you the numbers but i chopped up the jig for another project (teaching my 7 year old boy how to se a cutting torch ;D)

you can start ginding now on the old ones and the new ones will have the exact measurments for the placement when they get there.

I just did this, I ordered my mounts from Jeffs, they were on backorder. When they arrived there was no instructions no measurements what so ever. I called and asked for the measurements and I was told to look in one of the old jeffs catalogs. The measurments in the catalog are for the 6CYL.
I called 3 different vendors and asked them for the measurements, I recieved three different answers. I went with the measurement that Tom's gave me as I felt it was the most accureate one. All 3 measurements were with in 3/8 of eachother. I have not put the engine and transmission in yet so I can not say if I made the correct choice. I will reply later with the measurements that I was given.
Take your time grinding the old ones off so that you do not damage the frame. You will also need to cut the core support and change the radiator mounts and radiator. A shroud is also needed. There is also the throttle linkage as well, the stock 6 had a cable.

There are some photos on the thread MY sons rusty truck.

If you do not find the measuremants, let me know , I just did this last year and can go out and measure this . I did not save the diagram but i just measured it as 8 and 5/8 from the cross member to the motor mount. My god are the houses not sending the measuremnts too, Mine came from duffs and they were great

I called Tom's and was told 11" from the crossmember to the center of the hole in the frame horn.
James Duff said 9" to the edge of the frame horn to the cross member.
Wild horses said 25" from the front lip on the frame to the edge of the frame horn.

To me Toms was the most accurate and safe for all of the different vendors as it should not matter who made them the hole center is 11" back from the front cross member.

I have been using a lincoln sp175 plus with the .25 wire, for the frame horns I went up to .35 with the wire and this thing welds so much better. I was using the smaller guage for the sheetmetal parts realizing that it would not be the best stuff for the thicker steel.

mine came from jeff's with no directions and the hole centers needed to be cleaned up (looked like they were cutout by a blind man with a cutting torch. i would only use a hole center measurement given the way the holes looked on mine.
