Have you verified TDC and checked timing with correct marks then?

I did, I forgot about not being able to use the original timing marks because of the explorer front dress. I am amassed that the ecu was able to keep or even make it run where the timing was at. You should never quit on something for 10 years before you finish it.

Just found this. Great job on your Bronco!

What harmonic balancer are you running? I would assume it's an Explorer part rebalanced to 28 oz-in. If it was done right and you are using the stock Explorer timing pointer then the marks should be accurate. BUT... I know of at least one case of someone getting a rebalanced Explorer damper where the timing marks were way off. It was put back together wrong.

This morning I got the base timing set to 10 degrees. The engine is now operating relatively well and is very responsive to the skinny pedal😁
I’ll be licensing it sometime this week and start driving it to get all those bugs worked out.

OMG, I cross 1 thing off the punch list and add 3 more, cross another off and add 4 more. WTH this is driving me crazy.o_O
