Hi, I just bought a 77 that is a (I think) really nice driver. The previous owner did all of the work and was frame off. He did a EFI 5.0 from a 97 Mountaineer, he chose to go with a NV3550 to a Dana20.

I want to redo the Bronco, starting with a Body Off Dip. while the body is away I want to change to an Automatic w O/D, as well as some other improvements.

I believe I will go with a Fresh 4R70W, I see there are a few different versions and this is where I could use inputs as to which would be most correct. I assume ' 97 FORD EXPLORER AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 4R70W 5.0L 4X4 400-00880 F009MA' would be appropriate ?

Anyway, I wanted to say "Hi", and ask for input of those who have already experienced this situation.

thanks,
Lon

Read up on Baumann Engineering website. Lots of usable years of 4r70w. From what I have learned, a v8 4r70w year 1998 and up had various diode and valve body upgrades that are beneficial.

I used a 1998 Explorer 4R70W controlled by a 95 Mustang EEC. Works great. Your computer should already be set up for that transmission, you are half way there!

Thanks, I will take a look.

I have heard that '98 and up are the hot ticket.
Thanks, that seems to be the consensus.
