Hi all, anyone have a link or images of some of the original colors / paint jobs from Original 66-77 Broncos?

Thanks!

Well, did Bronco ever come in a factory purple ? I read Hammer’ excellent list but kinda blank about ‘75 so easily could have missed it. Thanks

I've seen a couple of purple ones over the years. No way to tell if they were original however.
But weren't there some special order colors you could get on just about any Ford if you knew how to work the system? If so, and Ford had a purple for some other vehicle, it's possible that someone managed to get one.

But it would show up on the warranty plate as a special order color.
Do you have an unusual color code? Did you get a Marti Report for it?

There wasn't a purple listed as a standard color, but like DirtDonk said it could have been possible for a special order color.

Thanks gents. Nothing so exotic or special Paul. I named my Offroad build “Code Purple”, and just been looking at Ford purples. I’ll tell u the sad story over a campfire someday. A just reminder of a checkered youth !

Heres a purple one for ya.

Is that a ‘66 gup? Looks like an eyebrow grill but hard to see in the pic. Is there a metal vin tag riveted to the driver kick? I’m curious what the paint code says?
Do you have marti’s for your fleet?

Its a 68. Originally red. Someone sprayed a dull purple over it years ago. This one sat in a lumbermill running saw belt for years. Only has 31K miles on it.

Awesome!! Connor was bi+c#ing the other day driving the ‘77 saying it needed another gear. I explained to him most of these rigs were farm trucks equipped with plows Ext. Not meant for today’s freeways. I never heard of one being used to power a mill. I need one!
Sorry for the hijack. Having a 30yr reunion here 😎

I went to look at a '66 for sale locally a couple of years ago. Passed on it for being way too rough for the price (but you know how that goes these days!) but it was purple too.
Of course, it was definitely a re-spray at some point in it's life long ago and looked very similar to Gupster's '68 pic. But not quite as nice...

Very nice, gup! I’m sure there were “special order” purple Bronks made, but survival paint probably very rare. My father in law was Ford dealer, and people could get, and did, just about any combo. Would tag just show some special paint code since no Bronco factory color ?

I was a DuPont paint dealer at my Parts Store .
I'll say there were no Purple stock colors. But that does not mean someone with enough money couldn't get it done in those days.
.. The Ford house traded with me in those days 67 until 95..
I was the biggest store in our chain . & We ''our chain'' sold 1/5 of the DuPONT PAINT in TEXAS.. SO WE COLD A LOT OD PAINT..
NOW OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY, I have no Idea how College colors were handled for them. .
........
.. An example was we had a ranch here that their owner was on the Board of directors for GM. hE Went 4 times a year to set & listen tothe Big board members .
... His ranch trucks were still being painted a 1954 chevy color in 1974.
.. SO WHO KNOWS.

It would have been left blank. You can send in a paint sample to Marti Auto Works and he can match it up and add it to your Marti report.

Hey DJF, welcome to classic.
With Icon it's probably a custom, but it looks a lot like either Sky View, Brittany, Silver Blue, or Arctic from the charts in this thread: https://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127793&highlight=Color+chart starting at page #6 and also #9 I think.

There are even some Jeep, Mini and Fiat colors that look similar.
To my eye it's kind of a Brittany, without the metallic aspect. I never saw one that had much metal flake, but all the references to "Brittany" were labeled as "poly" which in Ford-speak is metallic.

Good luck. I did not read the full article. Maybe there is a list of all details for that particular build like they do for many of their builds.
