What diameter is the 99-01 explorer returnless fuel rail quick connect port so I can convert it to -6AN with one of these type?

I know the 96-98 rails are two different sizes.

I looked at my 71 pictures, I couldn't definitively say what size it is as the connection has the Safety clip on it.

A guess would be that the larger of the two sizes, 3/8" supply and 5/16" return. So 3/8's. (Russell 640903)(14mm)

and are you sure those are different?

they look the same, just color and direction flipped. maybe I'm missing something though.

DO NOT order from Jegs in case you need to return. For something like that, order from Amazon. Easiest return if it's wrong.

I'm referring to the size of the area that the o rings are on that slips into the rail.

When I was doing EFI swapping years ago I had a bunch of parts from various stuff and was doing mix and match to make stuff work. Various 5.0 stuff from mustangs and explorers, going into a 4.0 Ranger, and just did a 3.0 Taurus and kept stuff off that. They used 2 different sizes so there can be no mix up while putting parts together. But big being feed and small being return was not a standard. I don't remember which donor parts they were, but I do remember it not being logical. Small feed and large return. The good is there were only the two sizes. Small or large.

And that is what I am talking about... AN size is the same on both fittings, the difference is the portion that slides in the fuel rail. 12mm or 14mm (5/16 or 3/8)

Normally, the size is the same even if you are using the factory fuel line extensions...

Yeah, I know on the Mustang, the supply is 3/8 and the return 5/16 and while I'd like to assume it's the same but I think I read somewhere that the Explorer uses only 5/16. Doesn't mean it's correct but I remember seeing that.

I guess I will pull the intake and disconnect and measure if the returnless rail is 12 or 14mm.

Thanks.

Seriously, don't do that!

Buy the 5/16 and if it's wrong, buy the other, or buy both and return one...unless you're just looking for a reason to pull the intake.
