Seats Mounted to Roll Cage

If you are in a bad rollover, and your cage and Bronco become disconnected, you don't want to be caught in the middle. You want your seats and seatbelt mounting points to be the same place. So typically, you mount both the seats and the seat belts to the cage, as that will be the safest place to be.

In case of accident the cage and body can become seperated leaving you vulnerable. Seats mounted to cage are far more secure, remember to attach seatbelts to cage as well. When you make the cross bars for the seats to attach to, you strengthen the cage. Essentially a well built cage with seats and belts incorporated into cage makes a pod, so to speak. Then attaching this to the frame makes it all that much better.

Dang, Steve beat me.

The only downside to the cage mounted seats is that it might mean your seats sit a bit higher....although this can be remedied several ways. The way I solved this issue was to make the cross-bars deeper than the seats and their tracks. The seats were then mounted on tabs/flat-stock running on the bottom of the tube, hence leaving the seats as low as possible. Good luck.
