This looks more like the part that the pedals bolt to I think. More pictures would help. If it is, mine is in the same shape. I'm hoping to repair mine by cutting out the bad and welding a strip of 1/8 all the way across.

Maybe yours isn't what I thought. Can't tell for sure but here is what mine looks like.

That bolt in the top left corner is one of the bolts that holds my pedals up. Yeah, it's ugly. Anways, good luck!

It has to be the same piece, my brake pedal bracket bolts up to it and flexes every time I brake, scary for sure.

Has anyone tried to tackle this bad boy from the underside of thr dash without disturbing the exterior of the cowl?

The body 's coming off anyways, If I flip the tub upside down? Easier to get at?

I replaced just the part where the pedal assembly bolts in because of the pedal flex problem the rest of it is still solid. FYI: make sure you clean and seal the piece on top of the cowl panel cause that is where the water comes from to make it rust. mine came in from the square piece on the passenger side between the fresh air inlet and the windshiels

haha, then you might get a kick out of this picture. Check out what the PO did to put a "bandaid" on it.

The PO put a ubolt with a bracket to help hold up the pedals. Pretty janky if you ask me. Oh well...smh

I'm going to try and tackle it from the bottom. I'll have to see what I find once I start cutting out the bad stuff. If the rust continues on up towards the cowl then I could be in trouble. If it ends up just being the flat bottom then I think it will be fairly easy to fix.

When you do it, NixTrix recommends spraying this in there before you seal it up:

If your cowl hasn't rusted through yet, take out the seam sealer on the ends and spray it in there. It should prevent or slow down any additional rusting. Then re-seal
You should spray it in your rockers too through the drain holes.
