I picked up my 4dr FE just before halloween. I had to get a new wi shield 2 weeks later.
Now i have to get another. These things are rick magnets. And, the glass seems very thin.

you beat my wife's record on her escape, new windshield a couple months after buying it, then 2 months later broke that one, been driving around for years that way, just now getting around to ordering one, but may hold off til spring.

Sucks to hear that. I've seen other reports of new Bronco windshield breaks so you definitely are not alone. I've also seen where the glass is $1K plus. With the replacements are you having to get anything in the electronics reprogrammed for the new glass? Don't know what all sensors may be impacted. Someone needs to develop a screen protector type film for the windshield.

Wife is on her 6th windshield in her Mini. One time, she took a rock the day after the replacement - 'twas cracked again... And at the moment, on another windshield, it is cracked...
I have seen another post mention 4dr FE. My mind was certainly in another place. I've had this 4dr FE for some time.

What about a good old-fashioned "bug deflector?"

they seem to get cheaper over time, first one for the escape was $575 latest quote was $370 this is the fancy windshield.

Programming .... my guy (old school installer) says do not unplug let them dangle and all is good.

Pffft.

12 years of rebuilding my EB. 0.3 miles after entering the freeway for first time ever, boom, rock dead center. Huge crack

Don't feel bad, my jeep JL needs new glass every 12 months. Oh, and don't let them talk you into cheap knockoffs, the jeep has a few fancy decals in the glass, not sure about New B's.

I see this all over 6G forum, I wonder if Jeeps have the same problem? I have already contacted my insurance company and had them change my insurance to free windshield replacement just for this.

MonsterBilly,

You are not alone. I had to replace mine as well. Took a rock in Nebraska on I-80 with less than 5,000 miles on the truck. Dropped my deductible to $250 from a $1,000 and will look into protective film as well.

v/r,
Mike

I was thinking about some type of ppf. Bowever my insurance only has a 100 dollar glass deductible.
The first replacement was dine by dealer. It was cracked from a rock during shipping. They did need to calibrate all the electronics.

I am also contemplating a bug deflector. Both my rock strikes were very low. Beneath the wiper blades. I think a deflector may have prevented them

Geeps and FJ Cruisers all suffer the same as the bronco, its the fairly upright angle that is the issue. Anything I drive is terrible magnet. I can get an 50 year old truck with original glass and destroy it within 6 months. My 19 F350 is on #3. I need to stop driving in TX, its where they all have gotten broken in the last 10 years.
