Just wondering about this weird doohickey hanging off the passenger side of my 1976 EB Dana 44?
I was thinking OEM stabilizer, but if so why isn't there one on the driver's side of the axle housing?

I would use the zip wheel and cut the weld on one side. Then it will pound off with the hammer

I've liked "fiendish thingy" ever since George Harrison uttered the words back in about '65 or so.
I still use "thingy" extensively, but I realize it's not in the same family as doohickey, thingamajig, whatchamacallit or others. Just that it still rolls off the tongue (and keyboard) smoothly.

That’s actually a very good idea!
Even if not for your own future use, someone here might need it for restoration. Or simply to replace a missing or damaged one.
I won’t say people are asking about them all the time, but we’ve had quite a few over the years come here just to find stuff like that.
