    Factory Power Steering Gearbox

    It is my understanding that there are two different factory power steering gearboxes in the eb's, a 3/4 36 spline input shaft and a 13/16 36 spline input shaft. Does the input shaft diameter also tell weather the gearbox is 4 turn or 6 turn?

    I never did torque those to a specific setting I just impacted them down till the mount closed in and tighned down on the inner bushing sleeves. So if you can't see daylight between the mount and the bushing, I would say that they are ok. If the bolts were good and not wore out then I don't...

    Since you don't know what is in the rear end, it could be possible that you have a detroit locker in there, the old models can make a "clunk" when they lock, which would be on accelration. I don't believe the torque of the rear leaf U-bolts has anything to do with it, The Ford shop manuals call...

    When you replaced the leaf springs did you replace the shackle bushings, mine had a "clunk" in it till I replaced them.
