Jake, you've been stringing us along you sandbagging bleepidy-bleep! :-X I demand updated pics! You're waaaaaaay ahead of what these "current" pics portray. Your rig's looking SICK! Tons of great ideas. :-*

Cut-n-paste those updates over to here where they belong - not buried in a "General 4x4 Discussion." Who does that? ;)

Ok so how about some battery box progress... LOL!

One other thing I have been working on is the battery box. I am really excited to have pulled this one off. Now I just need to start on the fun part of building a hold down for the battery. I've got a couple of ideas in my head of what I want so I am excited to see what actually comes out in steel!

Thanks guys here is how the battery hold down turned out.
I still want to trim away some of the strap width in between the side posts. Just in case a terminal was to come loose or something weird I'd like to have a little more margin of error. The strap started as a Artec design but I also kept trimming it back to get it away from the top posts as well.

First is the nuts that I made to weld on the inside of the firewall.

I didn't like how the explorer accessories were placed. The power steering pump was too high and I wanted to run my same P-pump. So I want to lower my power steering pump and make a new bracket for it. Also my internet research said the ford A/C Compressor was a terrible on board air compressor. So I went looking for a Sanden compressor.

Here is my first mock up of the accessories.

I tried to put some of that on paper to see how I can make it work. A couple of bent plates to mount the A/C and Alternator. Then the shaded piece will be a plate bolted to the engine. that will be some what boxed in to tie the upper and lower plates together.

So a little more brain storming. Looking at difference between the factory idler pulley and the A/C Compressor down low. Not much difference really. With the passenger side of the motor brackets back on there I seemed to like the factory layout all of a sudden.

I then started to look at mocking up the power steering where the factory A/C compressor used to be and moving the sanden A/C compressor on top where the explorer P\S pump was mounted.

Made a little progress with A/C and power steering. I ended up using the factory brackets instead of fabricating all new ones. I bought a new serpentine pulley for the P-Pump from PSC and then made a bracket to bolt where the A/C compressor mounted on the explorer bracket.

Then I cut the Explorer power steering mounts off and had a plate welded on in it's place to mount the Sanden air compressor. It clears the hood after I removed the brace. I will hold off before I finalize everything 100% because I'd like to find a fiberglass hood. Which may require me to lower the A/C a bit more.

I needed to get the hood mocked up to test fit the A/C compressor so I figured it would be a good time to get the hood and grill narrowed.

I planned ahead on the grill and thought I had a solid plan. It almost worked!
Not sure what I am going to do yet to keep the "FORD" centered and match the verticals up.

Jake, I am looking at that FORD in the grill and wondering how it would look to shave off all the cut off vertical pieces and leave it just like that. It would make that section kinda weak but other than an occasional rock and the wind it never gets any pressure on it. Just my 2 cents while I am starting my day.

Hell it's hidden pretty good behind the winch anyways.. %) Unless someone comes up with a good solution I will just guess and say mine will be very labor intensive and rediculous!
