I changed from the ignition switch to the stator connection on the alternator for a power source for the electric choke. I lifted the wire off the choke and checked the voltage with my Fluke and it only has 7.2 volts. Is that correct? The alternator charges ok.

Yeah, I believe I'm getting 7.4 volts from the stator of my 3G. Choke seems to work fine though.

I found this in the instructions for my Edelbrock 1403...

Red Wire (+): To Ignition Key Activated
12V Source (NOT coil or alternator!)

I guess it's probably because it's an aftermarket carb and the choke may have a resistor of a different value than a stock application. I hope I didn't hurt the choke or alternator by connecting it to the sta terminal on the alternator. ALWAYS READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS!:-[
