I have seen several LUBRs running 33s on here. Can you tell me what size rim and backspace? The size width of the tire would be helpful too.

I'll post what didn't work for me (hey, its a start).

33x12.5x15 tires on 8" wide wheels
3.5" Backspacing
2.5" SL
1" BL

This DOES NOT work. The tires are too wide. It looks like it might work but trust me, it didn't. It rubed at every little bump. I even trimmed a 1/4" off of the inside lip of the rear fender - no go.

Would a slightly higher lift have corrected that?

The tires were too wide and the offset was too low for a LUBER. Had I gone with a 33x9.5x15 on a wheel that had an offset of say 4.5" I would have been fine.

Didn't have the money for new wheels at that time and didnt have the height in my garage for more lift so I had to recut the fenders.

Here are pics and specs that you asked about from Tweety whe she was a Luber.

4 inch suspension an 2 inch body.
Tires are 32x10.50x15 . Wheels are 8 inch with 4 inch back spacing.

I don't think 12.50 thornbirds will fit inside.

Any other questions shoot me a PM.

33X9.5's will work, but if you want that wider 33X10.5 look, you need to put it on a stock 5.5" wide wheel or an older stock Ford wheel like the factory Ford slots that were 6" wide. I don't think an 8" or 10" wheel will work at all. Wide 12.5" tires just aren't going to fit well either. 10.5" wide with a skinny wheel is the only way to still do some light off-roading with it.

It also helps to roll or cut the inner lip of the rear quarters. This is especially true if the axle is not precisely lined up with the body. Sometimes one side can be to the right or left a bit and obviously move that wheel closer to the edge of the quarter panel.

31X10.5 (with a skinny wheel) fit fine with stock suspension and no body lift, but if you want 33X10.5 you will need at least a 1" body lift and/or a 2.5"+ suspension lift.

Pretty much dead on except the "light" wheel part;D I've run many trails that wewre much better suited for rigs with 33" or 35" tires. I just mounted up a set of 255/80/17 BFG KM2's on some Dodge 1500 wheels and the have a great off set for the LUBER crowd. You have to enlarge the center hole a bit but they work great and the 7" steel take off wheel can be found cheap, I have $125 in five of them.

Thx Techlaf and 1sicbronconut! I appreciate your past experiences. I'm downsizing from 37s. I have a 3.5" SL w/ 2" BL already installed. I may bring the BL down one inch. I saw on some website some factory replacement rims in 15x7s. But they were in black but looked just like stock rims. I've read Stockton is not the place to look for rims!!!

235/85r16's will work with a 2.5" lift. They're equivalent to 32x9.5's. I'll have to measure the rims again, but they're 16x7.5's with about 4.5" of backspacing. They put the tires in about exactly the right spot. Light rubbing on the radius arms at full lock in the front, and the lip in the rear wheel well rubs the raised white lettering on the tires at full compression.

Sold my 37s tonight, got full asking price. Time to get serious about newer wheels.

I run 34x9.5 swampers on a luber, 3.5" suspension lift, it sort self clearanced a little and now is all good. From the side looks great, front and rear the skinnies look skinny!

OK, I've gotta ask since I've been out of the EB scene for a few years. LUBR? LUBER? Obviously, an uncut EB, but what's the acronym stand for?

Huckleburry, do you have any pics to share? What size rim?

Cafyrman, LUBR is short for Lifted Uncut BRonco

Hey Crawdad,

I found this type of tire reading an article about narrow vs. wide tires and these are the tires used on expedition vehicles. Simex tires have varied widths and height. Here is a link to some:

http://21st-century-tires.com/simex/suvspecs.html

I like the 34x10.5x15

Those are some crazy looking tires! I think I will go safe and get the 33x10.5x15s. They are not as aggressive as the 34" swampers but should be a lot quieter.
