Put 53 miles on it yesterday and it ran perfectly! Needs a little more fine tuning in the braking department but I'm very pleased!

Lookin good!

What kind of cruising speeds are you able to run with the rebuilt 170?

What's next? Disc brakes?

The fastest I went was 45mph or so and it had no trouble cruising at that speed. I need to go through the brakes more thoroughly and flush the transmission and the differentials before driving any faster.

I will be upgrading the brakes in the future but for now the drums should be fine once they are properly adjusted. I do plan on adding a dual reservoir mc in the very near future.

I can't believe that it's been almost a year since I've updated this build thread. I've been driving it as much as possible and I've put ~1k miles on it since I posted on this thread last. It's running great below are some of things I've done since August and a few pictures.

Next on the agenda is to replace the front floor pans, find a glove box door, Line X the interior, upgrade to a one-wire alternator, and upgrade ignition with Petronix. Those items will hopefully be done before fall and once winter arrives, I'm planning on taking the front end apart and replacing all of the suspension bushings.

-Replaced all of the brake lines
-Flushed and replaced all fluids
-Replaced voltage regulator and all of wiring forward of the firewall
-Installed new steering stabilizer
-4 new shocks from Wild Horses
-New windshield and gaskets
-New air cleaner housing and filter
-Fold and Tumble rear seat from Tom's Bronco Parts
-Installed Tuffy Center Console
-Repainted the front bumper (not the correct color but it looks WAY better for now)
-Upgraded carburetor to an Autolite 1101
-Installed rear seatbelts from Wild Horses
-Installed 4 point roll bar from Tom's Bronco Parts

It's been modified and in its current configuration for the last 35+ years so I have no memories of it ever looking different. If I hadn't already had an all original Bronco, (first vehicle was a restored '77 Bronco Sport) I would probably restore this one back to original status. At this point, I feel like I'll enjoy it more building it as I've mentioned in my OP.

Picture of my '77

What's the paint code on this 77? Love it!

The Bronco that this thread is about is a '66 and it's Springtime Yellow. The '77 I mentioned was a different Bronco that I had as my first vehicle but no longer own.

Thank you!
Thanks! It's coming along and I'm thankful for being able to drive it while I fix things up on it. Makes it easier to not lose interest.

That dang sure helps don't it...

Are you seeing any performance improvements from the Autolite 1101?

How well does the Tuffy Center Console fit with the bulkhead still installed?

I saw very nice improvement in performance with the 1101. It made a big difference in acceleration and it now maintains 60 mph much easier than before. It's amazing how under-carbureted the 170ci was with the 1100 and I would recommend the swap to anyone.

I haven't bolted in the console yet as I'm still torn between keeping the bulkhead installed or taking it out. It's actually just held in place with Velcro at the moment since it will not fit with the bulkhead. I'm leaning towards removing the bulkhead and just holding onto it.
