Thanks guys. Should be pulling the body off tomorrow. Hopefully getting the frame repairs completed, prepped and painted.

Speaking of which, prior to making the decision to strip it down to the bare frame I had undercoated and painted the frame. Now that I have it all bare I really want to do some sort of roll on coating for better protection. I am familiar with POR-15, but it says that it should be applied over bare metal. Does anybody have any experience applying similar products over an already painted frame?

I think I'm going to start a new thread to get everyone's opinions so look out for that.

Got the body off and back in storage. In order to fit it we had to put the top back on. I must say, I impressed myself with how well the top fits. This is the first time I've tried and hell, I didn't even take any measurements from it!

5001craig, haha I am far from having it figured out. However, I certainly have learned a trick or two and it's a process!

I'll trade you. I'll fix your body panels and you can come set ours up with your suspension, prep and finish the frame! Not looking forward to my date with a wire wheel and paint the next couple weeks %)

I would gladly do your frame for you if you did my body (that sounds kinda weird). That's an easy decision.

I wonder if a paint stripper would work for your application? I've had great success with this product. I'd much rather use a chemical than a wire wheel.

I thought about paint stripper, but I can't get over the fact that I would be stripping off about 12 cans of brand new, 2 month old paint/undercoat %) Not to mention, there's no way I could sell that idea to my buddy, who's paying for it haha. I'm probably just going to go with a rustoleum, paint on enamel and call it a day.

Made a little progress today. The idea was to flip the frame and get the bottom repairs done. Our frame had a different idea though. Spent all day cleaning the inside out. Found a MASSIVE rats nest and years on top of years worth of mud! Oh well, it's all ready for the Eastwood Inner Frame paint. Shout out to 5001craig for the suggestion!

Also got the WH steering linkage on the 44 and sat it on dollies so we can move it around.

Spent some more time on frame repairs and bolt extraction this weekend. That, of course, led to me grinding the entire frame down to bare metal. Prepping for the KBS Coatings Chassis kit that we ordered!

Thoughts on my trans xmember weld nut repair? I guess I should have asked you guys before I welded it all up. I figure it's better than no bolt right? ;D

FOUND THE VIN STAMPS: Trying to decode it, but turns out I may have a "Monday/Friday mistake". According to BroncOhio's VIN Decoder, my VIN doesn't exist. Still looking into that one.

REINFORCING WELDS: Cleaned up some factory welds.

RADIUS ARMS: Mine were questionable. HUGE thanks to bax. Took it upon himself to send me a spare set.

There are company’s out there that may buy your old radius arms. I’ve seen lots more very the years modify them only to make them longer to longer travel in the front.

SUSPENSION TEST FIT: I heard people complain about getting their bushings in. So I put them in the freezer the night before. Went together pretty easy.

Some shots from the coating process.

First I taped up all of the holes and used Eastwoods Inner Frame paint. Came with a nifty 24" wand and 360 degree nozzle to get inside the frame. Then I just emptied a couple more cans of rust performer for good measure ;D

Then I went the KBS Coatings route. Do yourself a favor and just buy two frame kits just in case. I ended up sanding the BlackTop coat down in order to get a better finish. Also, the small garage actually came in handy. I was able to control the temperature and humidity with a heater and dehumidifier! Want it to dry quicker? I just opened the garage door!
