Well, I think I’ve got it all put together finally. Here’s some pics of my steering box before and after drill/tap for the ram assist.
You might notice the bushing on the top adapter. I accidentally grabbed the wrong bit and started drilling. So that hole is now 1/4” npt and the bottom is 1/8”. The brass bushing (only one I had) is threaded all the way in and so is the adapter in the bushing. Hopefully there is minimal opportunity for the brass to give problems. I’ll grab the right adapter next time I’m in the hydro store.
Got the lines hooked up and I’m pretty sure they’re not backward, but the ram assist certainly isn’t what I thought it’d be. Hopefully I just need to keep working on bleeding air out. I hate bleeding power steering!
I drove 1/4 mile up the road, and for sure, it’s going to need a sway bar! 35mph and it was interesting to cut the wheel just a bit...
