Voltmeter in Stock Cluster...

I have tracked down a few mentions of replacing the stock Ammeter in the gauge cluster with a Voltmeter. I would love to do this, anyone have any ideas where I can find this info?

It looks to be the same basic discussion, but the Bronco Driver article (pdf) was bit more explicit on a couple of points.

here's one i recently did for one of my builds. not too bad a job. much easier if the cluster is out of the truck.

i've been asked a few times for the volt meter i use in them.
it's an autometer 2645 i get them from Jeg's for about 36 bucks apiece.
their stock number is 105-2645.

That looks really good. Does the illumination match up ok or did you do any modification there too?

matches up well. i have also trimmed a bit of the id out so some of the light can go into the cluster since they are dim to begin with and give a bit more of a blended look. it's a great upgrade for the money. couple hours you're good to go.

one wire to a keyed power source the other to ground. you can tap right into the feed for the cluster regulator. it's right there. nothing to it.

weld the bad holes up, blend smooth and drill it again. be sure your drill bits are good. if one side is off it will pull the hole since only one side is cutting. what are you drilling these with? hand drill or drill press? are you using a center punch to begin with to locate your pilot hole?

Hey Nick,
Did you get any "bounce" out of the needle when installed over rough terrain? I think I used a SunPro? meter last one I did, but it bounced cause the needle spring was too light I think.

Ok, Here is the new voltmeter we have been working on. This mod has been added to our list of options if you are interested. The pictures are a bit grainy but the new volt gauge is almost indistinguishable from the stock Amp gauge.
