Has anyone else experienced a broken input shaft housing? My clutch was making a horrendous racket, so I pulled the xmsn yesterday and found that the shaft housing had broken off at the root and was just rattling in the throwout bearing. I fortunately found a professional welder at work on Saturday and he welded it back on for me. I reinstalled it and it works like a champ.;D

Is it steel or aluminum? If aluminum I would consider getting a steel one made. I would also question why it broke in the first place maybe something is not quite right with your adapter alignment off or something that put some pressure on it and caused it to break.

Yes, it sounds like something was not right from the get go. A serious alignment problem would do it. Did you check the bellhousing alignment during the original install? Did you have clutch troubles before the install?

It is cast steel. When the fella welded it he showed me where air bubbles had been released from the casting, which he attributed to a low quality cast process. There was also significant corrosion on the broken mating surface. It is possible that the alignment could have been off since I had recently replaced my engine and left the xmsn installed in the vehicle, but when I reinstalled the xmsn, other then a slight cocking for spline alignment it slid right in. I also changed to a hydraulic clutch set-up due to the DS header covering the mounting holes on the block for the mechanical linkage. I installed the xmsn about 5 years ago, with no issues until this event.
