I have a thought in my head but would like something to compare it to.

C4, stock V8 3-speed, NP435; any of these. Distance from the engine side of the bellhousing to the transfer case side of the tailshaft. I want the stock measurement. The common conversion transmissions will also be nice but not as needed.

Another the location of the shifter compared to the engine side of the bellhousing. How many inches back is it? C4 and stock 3-speed is irrelevent. But stuff like NV3550, NV4500, ZF and the like I would like to do a little reference to the diminsion from the engine block and where it sticks through the floor.

I have some of those crazy gears turning in my head, just a few of the teeth are missing;D

Shifter locations to the center of the shift tower:

Dodge NV4500 (gas) is approx 9.25" from face of transmission case. The AA trans adapter is 7/8" thick. Don't have a bellhousing in front of me at the moment to measure.

Ford NP435 - 5" from the face of the case.

OK, found an AA catalog and some more numbers to add to the mix, try to compile them all together. All the above are considering using the Bronco D20 mounting face unless specificly noted otherwise. Other pattern may be benificial for non-Bronco D20 (Atlas/Stak/NP205) transfer case applications.

C4 17.5", adapter 7.375, total 24.875"
C4 compitition (no governor, no auto shift capable, Atlas use only), trans 17", short adapter ?", total ?"
AOD 20.5, adapter 6 total 26.5"
AODE/4R70W + 7/8" to above, total 27-3/8"

NV3550 bellhousing 6.25", adapter 7/8", trans ?", transfer adapter 1.4", total ?" Shifter ?"
Toploader bellhousing 6.25", trans 10.25", adapter 9.375", total 25.875"
Stock 3-speed bellhousing 6.25", trans 9.25", adapter 9.375", total 24.875"
NP435 bellhousing 6.25", trans 10.875", adapter 7.50", total 24.675", shifter 11.25"
T18 bellhousing 6.25", trans 11.875", adapter 7.50", total 25.675", shifter ?"
ZF trans 29.125, adapter 1.5, total 30.625, shifter 13"
ZF trans (large full size transfer pattern), 29.125, total 29.125, shifter 13"
NV4500 bellhousing 6.25", bellhousing adapter .875", trans 12.375", adapter 7.3", total 26.8", shifter ?"
NV4500 (large full size Dodge? transfer pattern), total 27.5", shifter ?" (should be same as above)

OK, did some number gathering. only have a few questions left to fill out.
If you see any errors or omissions let me know, I will add it into the list.

Pan-fill C4 with bellhousing = 17.5". A case fill C4 with 157 tooth bell is less, probably close to 17". The difference is in the bellhousing.

Good catch. I fixed it. That clears up the descrepency between the stock 3-speed and the C4 I had. Now they are the same length.
