A lawyer working for Ford Motor Company just had my web server shut down. They never contacted me directly, so I got the feeling this is barely legal. But my hosting company acted quickly to protect themselves without putting much thought into it. I know 99% of the content on the site was hosted on many other sites. First protect yourself if necessary, secondly if you have any advice that would disprove their claims let me know.
Here is part of that email:

We represent Ford Motor Company (“Ford”) in intellectual property matters.
It has recently come to our client's attention that infringing content is posted at http://www.fordfuelinjecton.com which contains copies of Ford’s copyright protected materials.

Ford is the exclusive owner of the copyrights for the above-mentioned documents.
Such unauthorized use of our client’s copyright protected materials is an infringement in violation of the United States Copyright Laws, 17 U.S.C. § 101, et seq., which protects copyright owners from having their works copied without authorization of the copyright owner.

Such an infringement is also contrary to Web Hosting stated policies, which provide that:
“No intellectual property of any nature contained within or via this Site may be copied, published, reverse engineered, decompiled, exchanged, traded, or broadcast in any way without the written permission of the content owner.”

Accordingly, we request that you remove or disable access to this material as it appears on your service in as expedient a fashion as possible because it infringes upon copyright rights, including the above-mentioned listings at http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/.

The undersigned certifies in good faith that the content at the identified http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/ posting infringes the rights of Ford Motor Company and that the use of this material in such a fashion is not authorized by the copyright holder, the copyright holder's agent, or the law.

The undersigned further certifies that the above information is accurate and that Brooks Kushman PC is authorized to act on behalf of Ford.
My contact information appears below.

Signed under penalty of perjury,
Brooks Kushman P.C.

FFI.com is teaching people how to recycled junkyard ford parts. Why do they care? Do they think they might loose money some how?

All they want is to make $. If you post any helpful information that takes away $ from their tech support books. Sucks that the big guys have to beat on the little guy for their lunch $.

This is nothing new. Ford has been chasing anything that has there name attached to it. Few years ago there was a huge stink when Ford shut down calander sales for teh Black Mustang Club. I can't remember if it caught the Yellow Mustang Club or not (Yes, there are mustang clubs are based on the color of the paint job)

They could start by manufacturing the GT40 lower for the 351 again, before Pro-products, or some other Chinese mfr figures out there is market share.

FFI should rebrand itself. Retrofuelinjection, or something.

I think the law firm they have on retainer has some sort of quarterly report coming up, and the word is they need to show some deliverables. Write your congress person. We need to get back to being a society run by legislation instead of litigation.

What a crock. Is there anywhere else to get this information? I am looking to do the efi swap next year & starting to accumulate parts. I had read Ryan's site several times but did not take screen shots as I just figures I would go back to his site. Terrible move by FORD. This does not endear continued or future loyalty for their vehicles. I was thinking of trading in my wife's land rover for an expedition but now I'm leaning towards a Tahoe.

So what exactly are they saying that you posted or have that violates any such law?
Their first complaint was about archived literature on obsolete Ford Racing products I was hosting. They submitted additional complaints before the weekend, but didn’t notify me as to what they are. So now I’m waiting to see the severity & legitimacy of there complaint.
Great. Right when I am getting ready for my fuel injection swap. What the hell do I do now???
I didn't steal anything from Ford, and I'm not publishing any secrets. 99% of what was on fordfuelinjection.com can be found in books and other websites, just not all in one place.
FFI should rebrand itself. Retrofuelinjection, or something.
I own wikifuelinjection.com and that is where I'll move to once the dust settles.
