Nothing going on Today so we decided to strip the Stroppe down for a frame off resto. Follow along and see the pics. We are going to remove the Body, strip the frame down for powder coating, and give this Bronco a well deserved and correct resto.

Very nice! Looking forward to following this one!

I sure wish the reassembly went as quick as the disassembly does.

Man that is sweet. My in-laws live in New Braunfels and we're there quite a bit. Never seen that one around. Does it get driven around town? From your post it sounds like you guys are doing a frame off resto because you got bored or business is slow. Glad you decided to do something with it...looks like it was barely salvagelable.LOL.

Awesome rig. I'm jealous!! Keep the pics coming.

Stroppe Resto

I know every one will have a different opinion "I would have done this, I would have saved it in original condition", ect. But Reality is it was well past showing its age, (yes, was partially original paint), interior was well worn, mechanically it ran but not great, and I think I just want to do a complete frame off and get it to a condition I will enjoy and use it more than I have been. I love a great survivor but this one was just worn down for my liking and it will be fun to bring one back to life and put it in pristine condition. (I have a 77 Ranger survivor, I will leave alone)
I will post pictures regularly as we make progress and my plan is to have it 100% done by next Christmas. I am also doing it to make room for a car of mine coming back from the painter this week and like to have some thing for my 2 technicians to use to fill in when work slows a little in the winter.
I am sure I will be asking for tech help from time to time, and will certainly be scrounging for NOS parts to put it back together, so check back often and I promise to post pics weekly of the progress.
Tom

thanks for all the resources you guys have provided for me over the years

Thanks for the compliments, it is not as great looking in person as the pics might indicate (are they ever), Anyways it is apart now and in about 2 more hours the body will be off the frame. I am very glad to see the floors are solid with no rust issues, I almost expected them to have some problems (whew, glad something was better than expected).
PS anyone got an NOS or MINT Sport floor covering for a worthy cause?

This will be a fun build to watch! Anyone who's been around them long enough, knows that pics sometimes do more justice than reality(although it does look great in the "before" pics) Nice to see one get put back to it's former glory! I'm guessing part of the partial paint work was the hood due to the absence of the red on the front edge of the hood(unless it's like Jack's that never had it), the solid colipso grill, and white flares? Do us proud man, and keep us in the garage with ya!;D

Well the whole front end has been resprayed at some point in its life, don't know why but, believe it had a minor incident way before I owned it. It should have the silver grill and red on front of hood (and will again). It is a very "complete" Baja luckily, and I plan to bring it back to stock factory condition with maybe a few minor Stroppe upgrades (cactus smasher, 4 V intake and carb, ect). I am looking for any help on what was available from Stroppe as options and will do my best to do this truck and you guys proud.
I am fairly new to Bronco's although have restored may Mustangs over the years so open to advice as what is correct.
Thanks Tom

Oh no... not another Stroppe restoration! ;D

It looks like that is a 71? Does it have Stroppe power steering? How many miles on it? Please keep the pictures comming it will make the Winter shorter.

FYI The white to red paint line on the pass. fender is the correct way.

This link shows a scan of an original order form which lists all the things in the original Baja package.

However, I would say anything listed in the Stroppe Accessories catalog could be considered a legitimate option. I don't have all the pics of the catalog uploaded to my webpage, but pm me if you'd like and I can email them to you.

Guys, it's his truck to do with whatever he pleases. Stop stealing someone's joy and just enjoy what will surely be a nice build. Or make him an offer for double what he's got in it, reassemble it, and do with it "what you would do". %)

This is going to be an awesome build! Post pics often and also fill us in on any Stroppe related odd or little known information you find out along the way.

I agree. He's keeping it a Stroppe, just gonna be a better one when he's done.

Good luck with the resto, and thanks for sharing!

The pics definetily show it to be worthy of a good resto and I totally agree with you............even if he wanted to put 20" spinners on it.............it is his to enjoy any old way he likes.
