What engine paint color do I use for my 1970 302 rebuild? I see many different threads using 3 different colors. I would like to use the factory color that was on the engine before the rebuild. Thanks
I go with old ford blue or dark ford blue. which was pretty much standard from 66 up. There was a lighter version availible usually called new ford blue that was more like chrysler blue to me but thats only correct of pree 66 vehicles as far as I know. and pretty much a oxymoron as the new was actually older the what is considered the old ford blue.
I thought mine was VHT, but I just checked and it's actually Duplicolor 1601 Ford Blue. I used VHT cast aluminum for the timing gear cover and water pump.
I love the look of it if I ever get leaks- they should be easy to spot!
