Well, I am super excited to start my own build thread. After searching for months and months I finally purchased my first bronco in April. It is a 76 Ranger with a 302, C4, and power steering. The great thing is that it has been a south Arkansas bronco its whole life so there is only minimal surface rust and a 1X2 inch spot of rust on the passenger floor pan under a spot in the carpet that must have stayed wet somehow.
I actually am super lucky in that my wife was the driving force behind this. She has always wanted an old bronco or Scout, and after researching both it was a no brainer on which one I chose! I am hopeful that she will remain excited as the problems and bills from Wild Horses and Tom's adds up!
I just became a member about 15 minutes ago so I have to wait until my membership kicks in to post my initial pics. I plan on starting tearing it down tomorrow morning. Here is my initial plans (more I'm sure will be added as I move along!)
- Remove body
- Media blast frame, and then POR 15
- Install newly rebuilt 302 that I have sitting on engine stand in my garage
- Rebuild C4 (gonna have a local transmission shop do it)
- Send powersteering pump to West Texas Offroad for rebuild
- Wild Horses 5.5 suspension lift, new body mounts, extend drivelines, etc
- 35x12.5r18 Mud grapplers
- 18 chrome wheels
- Family Roll cage (any help on this would be nice! looking for a kit or used one
- New white seat covers, White bed liner on interior,
- Use my plasma to cut some top secret door inserts!
- Chrome stock bumpers, speedo restore, and numerous other small things that I will add as I go
I love the help that is given to all who ask for it on this site, so I'm going to be asking numerous questions as I go to you experts! I don't want to put a timeframe on this, but I hope to be cruising to razorback football games in it this fall! Notice I said hope!
