Well, I think it is about time I start a build thread after looking at about every build on here over the past two years of building my bronco. I know everyone on here likes pictures so I will keep posting new pics of what I have been doing to the bronco.

I first bought my bronco when I was going into my freshman year of high school thinking I was just going to replace some sheet metal and drop a motor back in and have it running by the time I turned 16. Obviously that did not happen, I am now going into my junior year of high school and still working to pay for and finish it.

First pic is when I first got it home then new pics of it recently, will post some pics of the new custom front bumper that my dad and I just finished fabricating.

Front Bumper and motor

Here are some pics of the custom front bumper. Holds a 10,000 Smittybilt winch and has two halogen off road lights that mount to it as well. Time to make the rear bumper with spare tire carrier and hi lift jack mounts. After the body is off again for paint, I will finish putting the motor together.

It is a Ford Racing 306 blue printed crate motor with aluminum heads and 340 hp, 350 lbs of torque at the crank. Backed up to the original rebuilt C4 transmission and rebuilt dana 20 transfer case. Edelbrock rpm polished aluminum intake with a Holley 670cfm street avenger carb . Billet aluminum Holley fuel pump, msd billet distrubutor, msd 8.5mm spark plug wires, aluminum water pump, billet aluminum march performance pulley kit (just the pulleys, out of my budget for the brackets), 200 amp alternator, L and L long tube headers. I think that is most of the stuff I already have for the motor that still needs put on it or is already put on it.

Pic of the frame with cage sitting on it

Just to go back in time of what I have already done. Frame and axles sandblasted then painted with POR-15, all new James Duff 3.5 inch monster suspension lift with no body lift. Rebuilt axles with stock gears for now, I want to put dana 60s under it in the future or when something breaks in the stock axles. Front disc brake conversion and rebuilt hubs and rebuilt drums in the rear with new power brake booster and stainless brake lines. Power steering box rebuilt by West Texas Offroad and heim heavy duty steering linkage. Adjustable track bar. That is basically the drivetrain I am running for now.

Re: 73 Daily Driver/Offroad Rig Restore

Wow that is looking good. Is that a Bronco Bob roll cage?

Roll Cage

The cage started out as a Toms Bronco Family 8 point roll cage. Then we made the Corbeau baja suspension seats and 3 point harnesses mount to it. Also the stereo system bolts to it as well. All of that is tied to the frame. It fits under the hardtop and does not crowd the interior space to much.

Hoping to get the rear bumper finished up early this week and then take the cage, front and rear bumpers to get powder coated before the end of the week.

Rear Bumper Started

Got the main structure of the rear bumper tacked together this afternoon. A lot more fabrication still needs to be done but the hard part of getting everything where it needs to be is done. Going to try and finish the rest tomorrow.

Almost finished with the rear bumper

I think it turned out neat, it is set up so the hi lift jack mounts horizontal with the tailgate on the inside of the tire carrier. Still have to finish the latch and make the bar and plate for the spare to bolt to. What do you guys think of it so far?
