I sold my stock seats Friday so I have to get busy on the cage / seat install.

I bought a set of Baja RS suspension corbeau seats from CCOR
http://classicbroncos.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112635

and a matching rear seat from my bronco brother Jason Robbins.

I then bought a custom cage from extreme custom fab. I modeled it after the pro cage with a few exceptions. I wanted it thru the dash, straight down in the back for a custom bulkhead, and a extra hoop so I could install the halfcab top and still have a family cage.

http://extremecustomparts.com/i-593...77-bronco-pro-cage-kit-std-free-shipping.html

I do have a JD squared tube notcher and bender to do some custom touches as I go

I started today by ripping out all the under the dash stuff.

I mounted the rear hoop first but did not get a pic tonight.

I then mounted the passenger up right.

the idea is to make it TIGHT

cant even see it

and the vent window clears

more pics tomorrow

It looks like the hoops are different than the ones on the website. I like the way it fits the roof and windshield. I want mine to go through the dash and I have a custom bulkhead as well and want the back hoop to come straight down too.
How much was the kits? Does the front leg have a bend behind the dash or does it go straight from the top of the windshield to the sloped part of the floor?
Take as many pictures as you can. I am very interested how this comes out.

I opted for side uprites instead of a front hoop. the front hoop wont clear the wiper and still follow the lines of the windshield.

$1000 shipped for the kit.

the legs are straight behind the dash. no bends at all.

That's is coming along great. I know I have needed a cage, but I haven't seen one that doesn't take up a lot of room and stand out from the windshield, blocking your view and out in the door. Your design is something I could live with.
Keep the pictures coming.

Lookin good!

I love the JD2 notcher, works so well! Just make sure your material is clamped super tight. The first piece of tubing that spins on you will destroy the hole saw bit.

Most of the cages for sale these days seem to get in the way of everything in one way or another.
I built mine to go behind the dash also and I made it tight to the top to get as much headroom as possible.
I slightly%) modified the dash 'cause I wanted to keep the glove box and I added A/C, along with all the plumbing (wiring) for the EFI to keep it all in the cab.

Mine goes through the dash too. You're going to love have those legs out of the way!

Looking good!! All of these!!

Until you've run the tubing thru the dash for leg clearance you can't appreciate how much easier it is to get in and out and you don't even notice the cage is there... did mine that way in '01... fought my old one for years...

Or is everyone making their own?
I want a front hoop but don't want the regular legs
They take up half the front floor

Anybody wanna make and sell me one?

back from the dead

I am still living and find about 25 minutes a month to work on the ole bronco. I have mostly finished the front cage and working on the rear.

Looks great!

What did you do with your glove box? Is it entirely unusable or have you fabled something up?

the door still opens but it is notched. I have not put a insert in it yet, but it would have to be modified
