Well, as many know, i built and installed a 71' 5.8L with trick flow intakes, 69 mach 1 heads, upgraded cam, etc into my bronco a couple y ears ago. After 2 years worth of tinkering and what-not with the computer, timing (i prob timed this motor over 200 times), summit racing 5.0L harness, i could never get it to run quite right. It would stumble above 2500 rpm, etc.

I finally had enough and my dad purchased a 52 ford truck that he wanted to put the motor in, so i sold it to him (he will go back to a carb setup). I purchased a 1991 Mustang 5.0L engine with about 75,000 miles on it. I took the intakes, heads, oil pain, etc off to inspect, and the engine looks great! No sludge build up, piston walls looked great (still had original x-honing marks on them, and compression checked out great too). So, i freshened it up, replaced head gaskets, oil cover gaskets, water pump (Flow kooler), oil pan gaskets, rear main seal (just in case while it was out), new torque converter, and rebuilt my C4 Transmission (finally).. So, all i'm waiting for is the transmission to get back together and put it back in..

While i had the engine out, i have been working on my extreme fabrication (used to be Complete Offroad) cage 'kit'. I've got it all tacked up, except for the seat mounts and harness tabs. Also wanted to add a horizontal brace on each side from the B to C Pillar/Hoops and a rear brace connected the rear hoop across the floor at the tailgate.. Also adding spreader bars to the rear cage area like the front.. so i had to order more 2" DOM and 1.5" DOM (for spreader and harness bar) form the local steel supply.

Anyways.. here's some photos.. hoping to get it put back together soon and get to the Duff/Windrock event in a couple weeks.. but it may not happen..

Ultimate goal is to get it done (including paint) by my wedding in March!!

Enjoy the photos.

that's the stock paint from 74.. i like the old paint look... but i'm going to have to repaint the entire bronco b/c i replaced my rockers (which are going to be cut off), the rear passenger quarter, and now have a fiberglass hood (which is currently white).. so i need to get everything back to one color.. trying to decide if i wanna paint it "highland Green" (Bullitt mustang color), original green, or else red or orange...

Too hard to decide!!

Stay green!!

Bronco looks great!

I really like green.. dark green or the color my bronco is now.. Had originally decided to go with orange or red.. now i'm back to green..

More than likely it'll be a hunter green or Dark Highland Green!

Let me throw the color of mine in the hat... '77 dark jade metallic... I think it would look good with the belt line chrome trim you have.

I believe it's the same for the Ford truck and Lincoln car of the same '77 vintage. It is metallic too, so it catches the sun.

Pretty sure it's paint code 2725 from here
PPG Paint Code

I have also seen it listed as code 46 from here
Ford Mercury Colors

Somewhere I have an email from the PO with the color code. I will see if I can find it.

I don't want to whore up your thread, but since you asked...

I think I've found my color!! Thanks, an I hope u don't mind! Lol.

Luke

Don't mind at all... The color is one thing I haven't changed since I bought the Bronco!! The PO did a great job with the color other than leaving me the dent in the drivers side grill!

It's funny though, sometimes it catches the light just right and can look blue in pics...

I think there are a couple of other good pics of the Jade Metallic on the "master color thread" around here somewhere too.

Worth a look Great color.

a few images of the weekend's progress..

Got the engine/trans/new torque converter bolted back together,
engine/trans installed (after taking all four tires/wheels off),
and got the cage painted (finally).

I also installed the new WH4x4 Extreme Duty Steering kit (with hydraulic ram assist)..

Still working on brackets and ram mounts, but other than that, it's moving along nicely.

Linex of tub got pushed to Next Friday (11/22) as i have to travel to Tn for a wedding this weekend..

Will keep you guys updated!

Luke
