Marti Auto 6cyl plug wires + Pertronix Ignitor/Coil

Over the weekend, I replaced my points with a Pertronix Ignitor and Flamethrower coil.

I have a set of reproduction plug wires from Marti but I'm not sure what size/gauge they are (6mm? 7mm?).

Will I run into any issues using these wires with the Pertronix? This is on a stock 170.

Thanks!

I'd agree. Maybe...
The more robust spark energy "could" possibly shorten the life of the old-school wires, or the more resistance built into them (I assume?) could put more stress on the electronic Ignitor module.
But I don't even know if that's a fact or just (again) an assumption.

The old wires usually had more resistance, but reproductions might just be that way visually, but with modern construction. Do the Marti wires say anything about this?
If you can get an ohms-per-foot rating for the wires, call Pertronix sometime and ask them if there is an issue with whichever model Ignitor you're using.
Did you go I, II, or III?

Otherwise, as long as they're in good shape, and not completely out of the range recommended by Pertronix, I don't see why you can't run them.
Any particular reason for not going with another more modern wire? Restoration-cool factor?

Let us know what Pertronix says about it. Could be good info for others.

Thanks Paul! I went with the original Ignitor. I bought the Marti wires about a year ago and never got around to installing them. My Bronco is stock so yeah, the restoration-cool factor played into the purchase.

I'll get in touch with Marti and ask about the construction of their wires and then see what Pertronix says.

Cheers,
Anthony

I heard back from Marti:

Anthony,
Do not do this. The wires will burn due to excessive voltage.

So at this point, I guess I'll order a set of "stock look" Pertronix Flamethrower wires.

Thanks guys!

I can't imagine that the wires would hurt the Pertronix module. The module has nothing to do with the high voltage spark side. Module only controls the low voltage side of the coil. Primary coil resistance and resistor wire/voltage on the primary of the coil should be all that affects the Pertronix module.
