Bypass Neutral Safety Switch?

Is there a way to bypass the neutral safety switch? I had been having issues with it over the past month where the truck was not starting sometimes and shifting in and out of park would resolve it. I just need to get the truck over to where my tools are. Any ideas how to do this?

Thanks,
Blake

Unplugging it will only work if you put a jumper wire in the plug. One so it will start the other is your back up lights.

There's a 4-wire connector that comes out of the firewall with a rubber-coated square plug. Two of the wires are the NSS (forget which ones but it's easy to figure out using a jumper wire and two spade terminals) and the other two are for the back-up lights.

On the switch portion of the wires (not the part that goes into the firewall), just cut them and twist them together.

Of course the long-term solution is to replace the NSS, as eventually you could lose your back-up lights too.

Yep. I plan on it, just need to be able to drive it until the switch comes in the mail. TBP has the best price by far, $50. Oreily's wants $117

as said just use a jump wire on the square shaped connector that's located near the center of the fire wall. it should be a red and black wire you jump if I recall correctly . that will get it started and moved . the other option is to be sure your in park or nuetral and key on and jump the starter solenoid. either is not a safe practice but will work in a pinch.

The proper wires to jumper are the ones that are the same color as the "S" wire on the starter relay. That would be Red w/blue.
The Black w/red mentioned are the back up lamps.
