66 u14 factory pinstriping?

picked up a early all original, super rusty 66 u14 which I hope one day to restore or recreate. It has the racing rocker stripes but I also noticed under the rattle can respray, there is a pin stripe from the grille to the tailgate. Its painted unlike the rocker stripes which are stickers. I have seen a body stripe on some 66 u13 but never on a half cab. Was this and option or do you think it was it done later?

I have seen photos / original FoMoCo artwork of these early 66's with the rocker stripes and pinstripe.

I'll see if I can dig something out and get it scanned in the next few days. It could take a while to dig though all my lit to find it.

I would love to find a picture...I also noticed in the front fender pic that its a rare "ronco" model! Funny, I heard something fall off earlier today.

Thanks

I have original lit with the blue one and the green one you found (and some different pics of the green one from the same photo shoot).

.....nope, not the same green one, notice the pre-production style masking of the white on the grille on this one. The beach scene I was thinking of was another set of 66 roadster photos, but it was red.

The 2nd printing of the 66 sales brochure actually shows the pinstripes and rocker stripes right on the cover on both of the Broncos! The rocker stripes on those look to only have one narrow upper stripe, and one wider lower stripe, but it is hard to tell for sure. Not to mention that many of these small details were airbrushed onto the photos in these brochures. Old School Photoshop!

Look down under 1966 factory options....

Body side accent paint stripes
Rocker panel racing stripes

It also lists Rocker Panel Molding, but that would be very late 66 production IMO, possibly not until 67. I do not recall ever seeing a 66 with them and I think that is why the stripes were offered only in 66 as an interim option until the molding was tooled up and available later.

A few pics of a couple original rocker stripes and pinstriped 66's from members on here.

In fact, I can not recall seeing an original that had rocker stripes that did not also have the pinstripes. If they were actually individual options, I am sure there are some, but perhaps they were both actually part of the same package?

I picked up an August 65 66 U15 not a U14 a few years back in original paint. Has red rocker stripes with matching red pin as well. Nice find for you.

Maybe it died with the eyebrow grille? Its nice to see my u14, the yellow u13 and the light blue U15 with the same thin pinstripe. I have never seen a early restored 66 with them. My u14 is also built in Aug 1965.

Thanks for all the pictures!...I think its a good idea to document this stuff before its lost forever...or maybe its a complete waste of time.

Thanks
John

Both of my roadsters have it. I have the original bill of sale for one of them and it is listed on there. The stripe drops down around the bottom of the door opening. On a hard door model it ran straight across the door. I have only seen them in red and white.
