It was pretty easy.

Drill the axle perch and the top plate one inch forward.

Re-assemble using newly drilled holes.

Easy peasy.

Nice! I plan to do this when I install the WH's 2.5" lift. Tire to flair placement looks much better.

Way easier than I thought.
Even drilling those crazy thick WH top plates wasn't too bad.
I bought two new DeWalt bits, maybe that helped.

A 5/8" for the axle perch. WH leaf packs have a really big centering pin head.

A 3/4" for the top plate.

Looks good. Axle looks like it belongs there. May have to do that too... sometime in the future... (to do list just seems to get longer...)

That's it? Just drill 2 holes per side and reassemble?

Regarding ride quality....its funny,... I actually think it rides a little better....silly I know...the front of the leaf spring "is" an inch longer....lol...
It changed my pinion vibration a smidge, as in lessened it, it was not much pinion vibration to start with, but I feel it, and moving the axle back some how improved it.

Drilling it was soooo much easier than I thought. I have a drill press, but when the pilot holes were so easy, I just continued to use my battery drill the whole way through.
I drilled small 3/16" pilot holes then moved up from there I think to 5/8" & 3/4". Wild Horses plates and pins are really big.

I just put 1490 miles on it going to Super Cel. Worked beautifully. My driveshaft was long enough, as it seems to stick out of the slip "maybe" a half inch or less further.

So it worked out great for me. I say try it. It is real easy to go back to stock.

Check your gas tank to rear end clearance at compression, If you have an aftermarket tank it could hit.

I thought about this too. Plenty of room with the stock tank.
I am hoping with only one inch back a Sherman will still fit.
